Mimms Honda Day @ Peterborough Showground
Waking up at 3am after not finishing work till 12am in order to get to a car show might seem mad to some.
I arrived at Chris's house early, we needed to swap over the OEM wheels Simon had kindly lent me for the new Enkei NT03+m's.
Talk about a last minute "Mimms Prep". We had the wheels fitted with 5 minutes to spare before we had to meet the other guys and Peterborough Services for the convoy to Mimms.
Arriving at Mimms, we had our club stand (11 cars) right outside the main entrance, excellent! The weather could of been better, but what can you expect for a show in November?
Dan had just managed to get his car partially finished the night before but had to be trailed to the show as it wasn't running. It was here where he showcased the first K-swapped CR-Z in Europe!! Yup... Dream Automotive had taken all the hybrid stuff out of Dan's ZF1 and put an EP3 Type R engine in it's place.
Showing off a smoothed and tucked engine bay, the battery and washer bottle being relocated to the boot, a flocked dash, hydro-dipped grille, re-trimmed steering wheel and more, it was clear than Dan wasn't fucking about with his build. All we need now is to see it running, fingers crossed it'll be soon.
As always the standard of cars on display at Mimms was at an all time high. One of my favourites was this EP3 sitting on Air with a scalextric track in the boot.
This blue EP really stood out with the near side front quarter panel getting the animal print treatment.
Alternative quarter panels seem to be the way of things at the moment, another great example on this DC5.
Tegiwa turned up with their FK2 Type R sitting on huge Enkei RPF1's, a wheel I think really suits the new Civic.
Keeping with the FK2's, Phil brought his along now sporting a fresh lick of paint on the wheels.
Mimms remains one of the best shows out there, and never fails to fill me with inspiration. What a way to end the season..... BRING ON 2016.

You Never Know Where A Dream Will Lead You...
... to Scotland apparently!
After JAE I had decided the car needed a change.
The new decals on the doors might give it away a bit and there will be various clues as to what's happening coming up.
I had been inspired by seeing the Liberty Walk Ferrari 458 Italia on social media. Taking inspiration from the LB Works 458, I ordered some custom decals displaying a quote from one of Honda's latest adverts.
To fit with my new plans I had to come to terms with the fact that the Mugen GP's weren't going to be wide enough and I needed new wheels. I'd never of imagined that trying to sell a set of Mugen wheels for less than half their worth would be so difficult, even if they are kerbed.
After weeks of advertising them on just about every place possible, I had made a deal with Sammy from the CR-Z Owners club to part ex the GP's for a set of Enkei NT03+m's, the only problem? I had to get to Stirling, Scotland to swap them.
So early one morning Chris and myself loaded up his car with my GP's and left my car sitting on Simon's spare set of OEM wheels (which look shit!), and headed for the border.
Leaving at 5am, we headed north up the A1M, stopping off at Nic's near Newcastle on the way as he was holding a package for me (more about that later).
Leaving Nic's we made in into Scotland, I had never been to Scotland before so it was all new to me. The scenery is quite incredible, but in typical fashion, I didn't get any pictures, sorry!
A quick stop off at a shopping centre in Stirling to meet Sammy and we had done the deal, swapped wheels over, had a quick chat and were back on the road.
Deciding we can't drive all the way to Scotland and not meet up with some of the guys from the club up here, we gave Euan and Rob a shout who came to meet us at the Forth Bridge at sunset. What a sight that is!! Again, a quick stretch of the legs and a chat, Chris and myself were back on the road not getting back home until 1am the next morning.
All in all it was a long trip but totally worth it as I managed to get rid of the Mugen GP's and pick up a temporary set of Enkei NT03+m's which sit really well on the car.
Now as I mentioned above these are only temporary as they are still not wide enough (17x7.5j) for the future plans. But boy, do they look good.

JAE @ Newark Showground
September 2015 saw the UK Honda CR-Z Owners attend their first outing at JAE (Japanese Auto Extravaganza) held at Newark Showground.
JAE brings together the very best examples of modified Japanese cars from all over the UK and Europe. Now, again... I didn't managed to shoot any of the cars here apart from our own club stand, this was down to me being a bit drunk throughout most of the weekend and generally forgetting I was meant to be taking pictures. Oh well, there's always next year.
We had a great turnout again, with 10 cars on our club stand. A big marquee with our old design banner in centre place looked great until the wind picked up and decided it didn't like the placement of our marquee and threw it over the cars (damaging Nicola's) and straight into my back. Ouch! I can tell you now, having a 6mx3m marquee flung full force at your back is not a nice feeling, but I was too drunk to care and the show must go on.
Relocating the now wrecked marquee to somewhere a bit more stable and tying it down to a barrier, we were again ready to rock.
3 days and 2 nights of music, beer, great friends and modified cars is exactly what the doctor order.
Myself and Simon took pride of place at the front centre of the club stand, having to Mugen kitted CR-Z's next to each other is a jaw dropping sight to hold. Especially when one of them holds a HKS Supercharger under it's hood.
Adam had recently applied a sort of granite look vinyl to his hood, a nice difference to the usual carbon fiber. Along with his recently fitted straight through exhaust system, with a Spoon N1 back box certainly made his CR-Z the loudest there.
Chris had seen the light, trading in his Mazda MX-5 for a Honda CR-Z ZF2 in Energetic Yellow. The only way to describe this colour is... Marmite, either you love it or you hate it. Thankfully Chris loves the colour of his car, and I hate to say it but I like it... it's different. He started early on the mods and had fitted a Spoon Sports GE8 intake chamber, Spoon Sports cam cover and a Remus centre exit exhaust system. The Remus exhaust is a great bit of kit, comes with a diffuser to accommodate the centre exit pipes and sounds great, a real low bassy tone.
After packing up, we were joined by 2 of the cleanest examples of Honda CRX's I have ever seen. These two CRX's were spotless and looked like they had just rolled of the production line. Amazing!
It's so good to see the evolution of the Honda brand when you get these two different cars parked next to each other.
All that's left to say is... if you haven't been to JAE, then you're missing out. Get down there in 2016, I certainly will be...
Mimms Honda Day @ Rockingham Race Track
In August 2015 I was accepted into the Show & Shine category at Mimms Honda Day along with Dan.
I was so stoked to have made it into Show & Shine at the biggest Honda meet in the country and to be 1 of 2 CR-Z's on display in the entire show was a true honour.
Held at Rockingham Race Track, this Mimms clearly appealed more to the race and track focused Honda fan's. My little Hybrid felt a little out of place stood next to stripped out EG's, EK's and Integra's. Although Dan's track session put my mind to rest that our cars are just as capable on the track against their cousins.
Phil from Dream Automotive took to the track in his FK2 Type R, something I had been waiting for.
What a sight seeing the boosted Civic coming out of the last turn onto the start/finish straight and just flying forward as soon as it hits boost.
The 2 CR-Z's drew a lot of attention being parked next to each other in the pit garages.
Dan had secured the "Best Mimms Prep" award, for his camo wrap, Accord Recaro's, and a few more touches.
Here he is applying the Mimms award decal.
Phil also picked up an award for "Best Club Stand" for the Dream Automotive club stand, all in all a good day for Dream Automotive, effectively taking away 2 awards.
Now I love the Mimms shows and I think they are great to see what people are up too and meet up with friends. The only bad things I have to say about this show was, it rained on and off through the day, with a huge shower right at the end with the awards being handed out. The music volume is far too loud and you struggled to have a normal conversation with anyone. And finally... people take this stuff far too seriously, after the event a lot of posts were going up on social media about not winning awards or that awards should of gone to different cars. If you don't win an award it's not a big deal, it should spur you on to try harder next time and if you're building your car purely to win awards, I think you're in the scene for the wrong reasons. Build your car for you, no one else.
